The popular mainstream media is once again stumbling over itself to be the first to BREAK the news of His Holiness, John Paul II having gone to the Father.

In this age of instant news I hope calmer heads will prevail and get the news right before bursting out with unconfirmed reports and comments. There is no need to SCOOP anyone. News is news and will be received and accepted as it comes. I hope the blogs do not fall prey to the insidious nature of media and broadcasting. Verify and confirm before posting. It's a small thing to ask.

Ken,

Agreed. You may notice in our last posts that we have noted when there have been conflicting reports.

We know the Pope is passing. The important thing isn't to know when. The important thing is to pray for him and for the Church.

Thank you for this service you provide the Church and the world.

I encourage you to continue this service to the Church even after the passing of Pope John Paul II.

The next few days will bring out the ugliness of much of the world. Witnesses such as yours will be very important.

Gregg, we appreciate your kind words. Certainly, we will continue to update this blog regularly even after the passing of Pope John Paul II.

As he completes his final journey, significant numbers of Protestants like myself continue to offer our prayers on behalf of Pope John Paul II.

While he holds a very special place with the Catholic faithful, people of all denominations viewed His Holiness as the moral and spiritual voice of our time. His departure to God will be felt like a thunderstorm on this earth.

All Christians should now give their praises to God for blessing the world with the moral clarity, spiritual guidance, and peaceful, generous wisdom of Pope John Paul II. May we all follow his example.
