The first vote of the 2025 Conclave to elect the 267th Pope has concluded, and the smoke pouring forth from the Sistine Chapel chimney is black. Much to the chagrin of the thousands gathered in St. Peter's Square, no candidate has received the two-thirds majority required.
Voting for today has concluded. There will be up to four rounds of voting tomorrow.
