Sede Vacante: Pope Benedict XVI Abdicates Papacy
At 8:00 PM CET (Rome time), Pope Benedict XVI officially abdicated the papacy. The Holy See is now sede vacante. Benedict XVI is now to be called "Emeritus Pope".
