Pope John Paul II May Be in Palm Sunday Audience

The Pope may be a spectator for Palm Sunday Mass. His vicar for Rome, Cardinal Camillo Ruini, has been designated to lead instead. According to MSNBC:

The Vatican said Friday that John Paul was expected to appear at his studio window on Palm Sunday. But it wasn’t clear if he might speak to pilgrims and tourists in the Square.

Accepting the advice of his doctors, John Paul’s only Holy Week commitment is an Easter Sunday blessing, while he regains strength at the Vatican after being hospitalized twice in a month with breathing problems.

Audience? I didn't know that masses had audiences.

And I didn't know the Pope Blog had smartass readers!

Actually, I think audience is the correct word... he wasn't in the congregation, but appeared briefly at his window.

The Secret Service White House staff was told that the Pope died on Tuesday March 22nd. This is not a rumor. I know an agent personally and he told me. All the pictures of the Pope since then have been earlier photos. The one on CNN today does not even look like the Pope--he is a stand in. It will be anounced after Easter that the Pope has passed-Monday or Tuesday so as not to interfere with Easter.
