Gianni Letta, a top aide to Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, visited the pope late Thursday after the surgery and said he was "reassured" about John Paul's condition. He said the pope managed a weak wave but could not speak.

Dude, it's not only Catholics who are praying for this amazing man. I'm a Muslim and I'm sure I'm one of most Muslims who's praying for this great man. He has done so much and devoted much of his life to God. We need more people like this in our world these days - of all faiths and ideologies. When it's time to pick the next Pope (hopefully later rather than sooner), I pray that it's someone who preaches peace as this great Pope did, and does the right thing when it comes to all the crazy stuff that's happening in the world. Only true faith in God and love can nullify the hatred, prejudice, xenophobia and the hypocrites in all of our respective communities, and the world. God bless
